Artist

Romero Britto was born on October 6, 1963, in Recife, Brazil. After moving to Miami, he began his artistic journey as a self-taught artist, joining street artists and drawing inspiration from their forms and techniques. In this first phase, Romero Britto's works were made from recycled materials such as newspaper clippings and cardboard pieces.

However, it was during his trip to Paris that the artist, now internationally known, began to identify himself through his personal and unmistakable style. The encounter with the works of masters such as Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso allowed the young Britto to start personalizing his technique, which the New York Times defines as a source of warmth, optimism, and love.

Britto's works have been exhibited in galleries and museums in over 100 countries, including the exhibition at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2008 and 2010. In 2013, Romero Britto was the first living artist to exhibit at the Soumaya Museum in Mexico City. He has created numerous public art installations, notably the sculpture for Hyde Park in London, the largest in the park's history.

Britto's private life is characterized by an interest in social issues. The artist has indeed donated time, art, and resources to over 250 charitable organizations and is an active member of some of them.
