The anthropomorphic subject is depicted in a suit and tie; it is a frontal portrait, but despite the elegant clothing, the face is that of a frog. The artist aims to challenge the fairy tale of the Princess and the Frog and show how even behind a well-groomed and elegant appearance, there can be nothing less than a frog.
Pierpaolo Perretta, known as Mr. Savethewall, left a secure and well-paid job in 2013 to express his vision of the world and society through art. He immediately proves to be a street artist different from the usual.
He declares himself against wall vandalism and, for this reason, decides not to create his murals directly on walls, but to use easily removable adhesive tape. He also uses recyclable and low environmental impact materials, such as cardboard. Hence his stage name, which literally means Mr. Save the Wall, fully declaring his intention to protect urban decor.
The goal of the artist Mr. Savethewall is not only to communicate to his audience his personal vision of society, but also to convey messages that are as clear as they are provocative, capable of prompting the viewer to a personal reflection on the world around them and its contradictions. Hence the use of famous and immediately recognizable images and subjects, to which he also adds texts. In doing so, he not only makes the message easier to grasp, but also leaves no room for possible misinterpretations.
