The anthropomorphic subject is depicted wearing a jacket and tie; it's a full-face portrait, but despite the elegant attire, the face is that of a frog. The artist thus seeks to question the fairy tale of the Princess and the Frog and demonstrate how even a well-groomed and elegant outfit can conceal nothing less than a frog.
Pierpaolo Perretta, aka Mr. Savethewall, left a secure, well-paid job in 2013 to express his vision of the world and society through art. He immediately proved himself to be a street artist unlike any other.
He is, in fact, against defacing walls, and for this reason, he decides not to paint his murals directly on the walls, but to use easily removable adhesive tape. He also uses recyclable and low-impact materials, such as cardboard. Hence his stage name, which literally means "Mr. Save the Wall," fully declaring his commitment to protecting urban decor.
Artist Mr. Savethewall's goal is not only to communicate his personal vision of society to his audience, but also to convey clear yet provocative messages that prompt the viewer to reflect on the world around them and its contradictions. Hence his use of famous and instantly recognizable images and subjects, accompanied by text. This not only makes the message even easier to grasp, but also leaves no room for misinterpretation.
