Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Maison of Champagne Louis Roederer it remained family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, Louis Roederer is still in the hands of the same family.
Covering nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Maison Louis Roederer draws its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, made up entirely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Val-de-Marne, in the Montagne de Reims and in the Côte des Blancs. A veritable mosaic of terroirs, the Maison Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 parcels which reflect all the diversity of the soils of the Champagne region.
Iconic cuvée of the Maison, created for the first time in 1876 for the Tsar of Russia, Cristal is produced from 45 exceptional vineyards, spread over 7 Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs.
2004 was characterized by cool temperatures and a water deficit despite a rainy and cool August. The dry and sunny conditions of September were ideal for fine-aging. The harvested grapes combine balance and freshness.
The vinification is carried out under wood for 20% of the grapes and is accompanied by weekly stirring of the lees. No malolactic fermentation. This exceptional cuvée benefits from an average of 5 years of aging in the cellars and a rest period of 8 months after disgorgement. The dosage is between 8 and 10 g/year depending on the vintage.
Cristal 2004 by Louis Roederer is a blend of 55% pinot noir and 45% chardonnay.

Cristal 2004 has a brilliant pale yellow color with delicate amber nuances. The extremely fine bubbles offer sustained effervescence.
Smell
The first nose surprises with a remarkably intense bouquet, revealing white fruit and citrus aromas, underlined by a brilliant minerality. On the second nose, more candied notes with toasted accents appear through gourmand aromas of great finesse.
Taste
On the palate, Cristal 2004 offers a remarkably unctuous nectar, characterized by a full attack with juicy flavors of yellow fruit. A nice minerality comes in between, giving the bouquet a certain harmony.
